Numerology name correction

How to check whether your name supports your date of birth, and how to adjust its spelling so it does.

Name correction means changing the spelling of a name slightly so that its Chaldean name number (Namank) is friendly with the person's Moolank and Bhagyank. The name usually sounds exactly the same. For example, Priya totals 13 and reduces to 4, while Priyaa totals 14 and reduces to 5.

Why your name number matters

In numerology your date of birth is fixed, but your name is something you choose to use every day. Practitioners believe the name you sign, speak and are called by carries a vibration that either supports your birth numbers or pulls against them. When the two are in conflict, people often describe repeated delays, missed chances or feeling out of step. A corrected spelling aims to bring the name in line with the numbers you were born with.

When to consider a name correction

  • Your name number is 4 or 8 and your birth numbers are not friendly with them.
  • Your name number clashes with your Moolank or Bhagyank.
  • You are naming a baby, a business, a brand or a shop and want to start well.
  • You are about to change your name anyway, for example after marriage.

How to correct a name, step by step

  1. Find your birth numbers

Work out your Moolank from your day of birth and your Bhagyank from your full date of birth.

  2. Calculate your current name number

Add the Chaldean value of every letter in the name you actually use, then reduce the total to a single digit.

  3. List the name numbers that suit you

Choose numbers that are friendly with both your Moolank and your Bhagyank, and avoid 4 and 8 unless your chart supports them.

  4. Adjust the spelling, not the sound

Try small changes such as doubling a vowel, adding a silent h, or changing i to ee, and recalculate each version.

  5. Start using the new spelling

Use it in your signature, email, social profiles and business cards so the new vibration becomes part of daily life.

Spelling changes that keep the sound

TechniqueExampleEffect
Double a vowelRahul → RaahulAdds 1
i to eeAnil → AneelAdds 9
u to ooArun → AroonAdds 8
Add a silent hRohit → RohithAdds 5
Ending i to yPreeti → PreetyNo change, different look
Double a final consonantAnil → AnillAdds 3

Each change has to be recalculated with the Chaldean chart, because adding a letter changes the total and the final number.

Which name numbers are good?

There is no single lucky number for everyone. A name number is considered good when it is friendly with both your Moolank and your Bhagyank. In practice, 1, 3, 5 and 6 are recommended most often, because they get on with most birth numbers. 4 and 8 are usually avoided as name numbers because they are linked to delays.

Common mistakes

  • Calculating only the first name when you are known by your full name, or the other way round.
  • Using Pythagorean values (A=1 to I=9) with a Chaldean compatibility table.
  • Choosing a spelling that changes how people pronounce your name.
  • Rushing to change legal documents. Most people begin with their signature and daily use.
